Mappin & Webb silver serving/warming dish with dome
This is a lovely set.
I have done my best to show everything in the photographs…
Serving / Warming Plate:
This is a 11” wide Mappin & Webb triple deposit Princes silver-plated serving dish with a ½” recess. It contains a water reservoir for hot water to keep food warm as it is served.
A few very small bits of corrosion are in the flat area near the rise to the edge. There is some scratching in the flat center area of the serving dish. On the underside, there is a mark Triple Deposit, Mappin & Webb, Princes Plate, London & Sheffield. W8237
Dome:
This is a 8” wide Mappin & Webb Princes Plate dome.
The underside of the dome is marked Triple Deposit, Mappin & Webb, Princes Plate, London & Sheffield. W9312
The exterior of the dome is in excellent condition. The underside has a few small bits of corrosion.
Together, the two pieces weigh about 4lbs and are 7” high.
I have no formal provenance for this set, other than that both pieces were bought in England and were wedding gifts to my grandparents after which was used by my parents and then in our home since then. It has been in the family for about 120 years
