Description
Digital-Analog Converter Board, MCP4921, 12-bit, IDC10 (DAC)MIKROE-80
MCP4921 single-channel 12-bit DAC
Output setting time 4.5 µs
Operating current 175 µA typical
Industry standard Serial Peripheral Interface
Compatible with both 3.3V and 5V systems
The DAC Board allows you to add 12-bit resolution digital-to-analog conversion to your development system. It includes an MCP4921 D/A converter.
The board has a female IDC10 connector to plug it into your host system. It communicates with the host system via SPI. The DIP switch allows you to set which pins are used for MOSI and SCK, and the user manual explains the settings required for specific mikroElektronika development systems that have a matching IDC10 header. A jumper setting allows you to select Vref to 4.096V or to VCC (3.3V or 5V depending on host system). Connection to an external analog device is established through a 2-pole screw terminal.
The board consumes a max current of 50mA at the supply pins. It measures
49.59 × 23.88mm
(1.95 × 0.94")
and weighs
9 grams
(0.02 lbs).
Use in your own design
While this board was created originally for mikroElektronika's development systems, it's certainly possible to use in your own project. To do so, you may want to pick up
IDC10 box headers
that you can solder onto your PCB, or an
EasyTEST
board to wire it up easily.
