Description
I have for sale a violin bow like no other. It is an 1896 German full-size violin bow from Oelsnitz, Saxony. I found its actual patent registration from January, 1897 (in the photos), Berlin. You can read the frog clearly; Patent A. StarkThe bow is 29.5" long and weighs 60 grams. It has a metal frog mechanism...incredibly unusual, and a metal tip. The bow is in very good condition. The stick is sturdy and has good arch to it. The mechanism works fine, but could use a bit of cleaning and perhaps lubrication. As you can see there is still hair on the bow, but it needs replacement if you want to actually use the bow, which would be no problem. You'd really turn some heads as a Concertmeister, playing your precious violin with this bow!
If you are a collector or a professional musician, this is an amazing find you'll never see again.
