Sarah Leekya (1930 - 2017), was the daughter of Zuni Master Leekya Deyuse (1889 - 1966), who was the first carver to attain wide recognition for his craft. Sarah's fetish carving siblings, Francis Leekya and Alice Leekya Homer are now deceased. At the time of Sarah's passing, she was the oldest living carver in Zuni.
Sarah learned to carve by helping her legendary father, Leekya Deyuse, with his polishing, when she was a teenager. Now, much, much later, she continued carving in her father’s distinctive style, helping collectors develop a deep appreciation for the old-style fetishes.
An impressive carving with well formed head, boulbous body and traditional attributes.
    Excellent Condition.
