    Description

This listing is a Parker "
    51
" fountain pen. Given its design details and date-stamp, this pen is probably a "Mark I
" model that was produced during the first quarter of 1946.  As viewed in Scan #1, the pen measures approximately 5 3/8" in length. The barrel is in the company's early, dark Cedar Blue color. The gold-filled cap features the nine alternating line Insignia design
. The cap has the arrow pocket clip; a clear jewel is located both atop the cap, as well as at the end of the barrel. The pen has a Vacumatic filler system with a plastic plunger visible in Scan #2.
    The
surface of the pen remains in very nice condition, displaying only very mild, limited wear with no cracks, chips, or other signs of abuse or misuse being noted. A couple very faint, superficial scratches are present on the barrel. A couple tiny dents are noted on the surface of the cap, as is a somewhat larger one. The indicia remains blank. The plunger engages and withdraws with the intended level of tension
    . Only traces of the
blue coloring remain in the diamond on the pocket clip.
Encircling the pen and adjacent to the clutch ring, a
double line of imprint on the barrel reads
    ,
    "
    PARKER
    "
    51"
    , below that,
    "
    MADE IN U.S.A.
    "
    .
Just beyond the double lines of imprint is the date stamp which reads,
    "
    6.
    "
.     At the outer edge of the open end of the cap appears the wording
    "
    1/10  10K  GOLD FILLED  MADE IN U.S.A.
    "
    .
The undamaged, hooded nib exhibits the presence of ink residue and a mildly worn iridium
    .
As is the case with all of the vintage writing instruments I offer for bidding, this pen was recently acquired at a local estate sale. I have not tried to fill or use the fountain pen; however, I did manually dip the nib in ink and as seen in Scan #3 it produced a fine written specimen. Given the information provided herein, the pen is being sold "as-is". P
    lease review the scans carefully
. I will reply to your questions emailed to me in a prompt and factual manner.
