    This book was privately issued by J. Frank Duryea to set the historical record straight on who, and how, the first automobile was created in America. The Duryea brothers (Charles and J. Frank) built their first car between 1893-1894. In 1895 J. Frank Duryea drove the winning car in the very first automobile race that was held in the USA (1895 Chicago Times-Herald Race). In 1896 J. Frank Duryea took one of their current 1896 production cars to England, where he was the first to finish the 1896 London To Brighton Run ('The Emancipation Run').
